FAQ about using myCSI

Did you know?   CSI [tchee] is the abbreviation for Crescendo Summer Institute.

What is myCSI?

myCSI is Crescendo Summer Institute's online application system. It enables you to log in using your email address and a password. You may stop filling out the application form and continue whenever you want. You may also use it to send and receive files related to your application and participation. You may use it to communicate with is directly via the Message board. You may also use it to follow up your finances and payments related to CSI.

How do I know if I get a message on the Message board?

Whenever you get a new message, or there is a system event (e.g. you have been accepted, your fees have been calculated, etc.), you will be sent an email informing you that there is a new message for you, so please log in to your myCSI account and check your Message board.

What if an email gets lost?

This is exactly why we have developed the Message board on myCSI. You messages will never get lost or get to spam. Since emails unfortunately sometimes do get lost, please make sure to log in to myCSI and check your message board every now and then.

How do I use myCSI?

Please log in to myCSI to see the introduction to myCSI on your homepage.

How do I access myCSI?

What is the difference between registration and application?

Registration to myCSI happens only once, giving your email address and a password. However an application form has to be filled out each year depending on the role you choose for the specific year's Summer Institute.

I have already filled out a myCSI application in a previous year. Do I have to fill it out again this year?

We have good news for you. Your registration is still valid, and most of your personal data have been saved in the system. However you will have to apply again, because things might have changed since your last application, and we would like to have up-to-date information about you and your skills.

I want to start my application, but myCSI wouldn't let me choose a role. Why?

Please check the timetable for the application period and deadlines of your chosen role. If you are trying before or after the application period, myCSI won't let you start.

I want to submit my application form, but myCSI doesn’t let me to. Why?

Please check the progress of your application on the Summary page. You will be able to submit your application only if it is 100% ready.

How do I know what data are missing to have my application 100% ready?

Pages with missing data are indicated with red colour in myCSI. Withing the page, fields with missing data are also indicated with red colour.

Why do I have to submit my application?

The new myCSI application system allows you to work on your application form for as long as you like. However there is a point when you have to finish filling out your application form and submit it so that we know that you are ready with it. Your application form is valid from this point on.

What if I have to change some data after having submitted my application form?

Some fields can be modified even after having submitted your application, such as: your password, address, phone number, invoice data, emergency contact. You will also be able to access the Files page.
In case you need to make changes that the system wouldn't allow you to change, please contact the office via the
Message board.

Where can I see the financial details of my participation?

You can see the details on Finances page.

When is my Registration fee due? (students only)

Registration fee should be paid within 8 days from submitting your application form. Please note that your application form will not be valid without your registration fee paid. We would also like to remind you that if your registration fee does not arrive in time, myCSI system will automatically delete your application.

Why do I have to send you a message about the participant's name if somebody else makes the payment for me?

The amounts paid are credited to our account. In those cases where the sender is different from the participant and there are no details sent with the payment, it is extremely hard, sometimes impossible to identify which applicant is the beneficiary of the payment.

How do I know if my payment has arrived?

You'll get a message about the payment on the Message board. You can see the detailed info on your Finances page.

How do I learn about the amount I have to pay?

Applications are processed on an ongoing basis. As soon as the decision is made, the details will appear on your Summary page, whereas the details can be seen on your Finances page.

How do I learn about the scholarship / discounts I have been granted? (students only)

Applications are processed on an ongoing basis. Scholarships and discounts will appear on the Finances page.

Can I pay my participation fee in installments?

You are free to decide whether you want to pay in one lump sum or in installments.

What is the final deadline for paying the fees?

The final deadline is indicated on the Summary and Finaces pages, available from the moment your participation fee is calculated.

What files do I have to upload? (students and volunteers only)

Students have to upload 1 photo, 1 cv, 3 demos (either audio files, or active links to online recordings). You will also have to send the piano scores for your chosen repertoire latest by 10 June.
In case you apply for a scholarship you will be suggested to upload some extra documents to justify your needs.

Volunteers have to upload 1 photo.

Why do I have to upload demos? (students only)

Demos are necessary for our teachers to be able to decide about your acceptance. Your skills and performance are also a basis for deciding on scholarship (if requested).

What kind of demos should I upload? (students only)

3 demos are obligatory in order to be able to submit the application form. Please note that the demos don't have to be professional recordings, you can make a recording with your mobile phone. Please upload audio files only. If you would like us to see a video file, paste the url of it instead of uploading it.

How do I upload files? (students and volunteers only)

It is very simple. You can do it on the Files page of your myCSI account. You can either upload a file or paste a link (url) of an online recirding (e.g. Youtube).

I need more help uploading the files. (students only)

  • Make sure that the files are not bigger that 30MB each.
  • Make sure they are audio, and not video files.
  • mp3 format might be easier to upload. In case you have some other format, you may want to convert your file to mp3 first (there are free online sites for this, e.g. zamzar).
  • Another option (recommended for video files): you can upload the file to youtube. You can either set them to "public", or "not listed". If you set them to "not listed", it will not appear on youtube, people cannot search for it, only those can see it/listen to it, to whom you send the link. In this case you don't have to upload the file in myCSI, only the link (url).

Where do I find the downloadable documents?

The downloadable documents can be found on our website, but you can also find them on the Files page of your myCSI account.

What if I get stuck with the application form?

You can simply drop us a line on the Message board. Or you can email us at office@crescendohungary.org

Why are some messages printed in black while others are grey on the Message board?

Personal messages are printed in black, while system generated automatic messages are printed in grey.

Why do some messages have a blue background on the Message board?

These are the messages that have either been written by you or they are automatic system messages related to your activity.
