Soprano

Former private singer of the Hungarian State Opera, the Bonn Opera, the Osnabrück Opera, the Altenburg-Gera Opera, the Csokonai Theatre in Debrecen and the Szeged National Theatre.

She began her musical career as a flutist and obtained her first diploma at the Liszt Music College in Debrecen under István Matuz, professor of flute. Four years later, she obtained a singing diploma under the guidance of Adrienne Szterszky and Endre Dékány. Her first contract was with the Csokonai Theatre in Debrecen. Her first competitions came in 1984, the year she graduated: first prize and special prize at the Karlovy-Vary Singing Competition and third prize at the Sofia Singing Competition, followed by an invitation to the Sofia Music Festival, where she sang Gilda in Verdi's Rigoletto with Giuseppe Taddei in several performances with great success, which was recorded by Sofia Radio. In the same year, she won the Cziffra Foundation Grand Prize, which led to numerous invitations to perform in concerts throughout France. For several years she was a member of the Szeged National Theatre. He was a regular guest of the Hungarian State Opera and for several years a contracted artist. Here she sang such repertoire of lyric and coloratura literature as Lucia di Lammermoor, Olympia, Fiordiligi, Gilda, Melinda, Michaela, Despinetta, Musetta, Norina, etc. Her other important roles include Zerbinetta, Antonia, Queen of the Night, Queen of Diamonds, Pamina, Papagena, Woglinde, Nedda, Siebel, Silberklang, Countess, Mimi, Butterfly, etc.

In 1988, Ildikó Iván won the first prize at the Stuttgart Geszty Coloratura Competition and was engaged by the Bonn Opera. She has subsequently appeared as a guest artist in numerous opera houses and concert halls in Europe, including Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Zurich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Marseilles, Saint Paul de Vance, Las Palmas, New York, Miami, Vienna, Graz, Prague, etc. She has also performed at the Locarno Festival and the Aphrodite Festival in Cyprus.

She has worked with conductors such as Sylvio Varviso, Dennis Russel Davis, Waclaw Neumann, Stefan Soltész, Udo Zimmermann, Gianfranco Massini, János Kovács, Géza Oberfrank, Tamás Pál, among others, Ádám Medveczky, György Vashegyi, Gergely Kesselyák, Géza Török and with great singing partners such as Edita Gruberová, Juan Pons, Anna Tomowa-Sintow, Graham Clarc, Gössta Winberg, Éva Marton, Lívia Budai.

In 2013 she received her DLA from the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, between 2013 and 2017 she was Associate Professor at the Vienna Conservatory, from 2018 she was Associate Professor at the University of Debrecen, and from 2019 to 2021 she was Head of the Department of Vocal Studies. In 2021, she habilitated at the Liszt Academy of Music, also from this year on he is Associate Professor at the University.

Ildikó Iván has contributed to numerous recordings and opera films. She is an accomplished performer of contemporary music literature and has given several premieres.
