KIPFER, Matthias (SUI)

Collaborative Pianist

Matthias Kipfer studied piano at the Basel Academy of Music with Adrian Oetiker (teaching diploma) and in Lugano with Prof. Nora Doallo (concert diploma). He then continued his artistic development with Rolf Plagge (Mozarteum Salzburg). To explore musical possibilities even further, he obtained a diploma in free improvisation with Walter Fähndrich (Basel Academy of Music).

Matthias Kipfer also attended chamber music and piano masterclasses with W. Prossnitz, H. Francesch, at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, USA, and others. He is in demand as a soloist, chamber musician, and song accompanist. His concert activities take him throughout Switzerland (Tonhalle Zurich, Stadtcasino Basel, Menuhin Forum Bern, St. Moritz, St. Gallen, Geneva, etc.), as well as to Germany, Czechia, England, Moscow, etc.

A particular focus is his collaboration with various choirs, including the Gewandhauschor Leipzig, with whom he has performed at their home venue.

He also teaches at the Zofingen Music School and is a church musician at the Reformed Church in Oftringen. Together with his wife, he runs the Kulturhaus West, where many concerts and other cultural events take place.
