Budapest - Tokaj by train

There are three train stations in Budapest: Déli, Keleti and Nyugati.
 

Trains from Keleti to Tokaj

There are IC intercity trains from Keleti to Tokaj every two hours. The journey takes about 3 hours. (Normally these are direct trains, however, due to the reconstruction works going on you have to change in the city of Hatvan from the replacement bus to the train.)

The last IC train that will get you to CSI on time departs at 15:05.

*PLEASE NOTEDue to reconstruction works there are IC replacement buses operating between Keleti and the city of Hatvan. IC replacement buses leave from the temporary bus stop in 'Verseny utca', next to Keleti Railway Station. Train ticket is valid for the replacement bus as well. The ticket costs around 4300 HUF. With a valid student ID card** it costs around 2400 HUF.


Trains from Nyugati to Tokaj

There are IC intercity trains from Nyugati to Nyíregyháza every two hours. At Nyíregyháza you have to change and take another train to Tokaj. The journey takes about 4 hours.
Trains leave from Nyugati at 9:23, 11:23, 13:23, 15:23 ,17:23 and 19:23.  Click here to check the timetable and buy your ticket.
The last IC train that will get you to CSI on time departs at 15:23.

The ticket costs around 5800 HUF. With a valid student ID card** it costs around 3400 HUF.

How to buy train tickets

...You can buy them online or
...At the train station either from the cashier or from a vending machine, or
...At Keleti, next to the train track No. 9, there is a travel agency, where you can buy in-land as well as international tickets, and they speak English.
 

From Tokaj train station to the CSI Main Building

From the Tokaj train station a 10-minute walk will get you to the CSI Main Building (i.e. the Tokaji Ferenc Secondary School).
